Our site is unique in that we personalize our recommendations for you. Using your friend network and your personal ratings we find places that you will enjoy all over the US. Whether you are looking for new places in your hometown, places to try on your next vacation or a reliable recommendation from a friend we can help. Without being registered you miss out on a lot of great features such as personalized recommendations, similarity meters, earning rewards in our rewards program and being part of an exciting new community. We will NEVER display your full name to other users. We use an abbreviated version of your, which consists of your full first name and the first initial of your last name, we then add on your city and state so your friends can identify you. So for Example, John Smith from Lynbrook, NY would have his name displayed as "John S. of Lynbrook NY".

Never. We do not show your email address to other users. Your privacy is very important to us.

Once you have an account with us you can setup favorite neighborhoods. Your favorite neighborhoods will be used when we generated automated personalized suggestions for you. Also a brief overview of what is new in each of your favorite neighborhoods will be shown on your personal homepage.

The similarity meter is a small meter you will see next to other user's names when you are logged in. It represents how similar your tastes our to that user. The higher the value the more similar you are. If no meter is present we do not have enough data to decide how similar your tastes are.

The remember me checkbox allows theSUGGESTR.com to remember who you are and automatically log you in the next time you come to the site making it easier for you to enjoy all the features that are only available to logged in users. To enable this feature we store a cookie on your computer but we do NOT store your password in the cookie. We highly recommend you check this checkbox as it will greatly improve your experience with theSUGGESTR.com

The icon represents an RSS feed. RSS stands for really simple syndication and is used to allow you to subscribe to the content of this page. If you interested in learning more Click here.

Yes. We?ve decided to change our name in conjuction with a focused effort to improve our site and alter it?s primary focus. theSUGGESTR.com will mainly focus on using our proprietary suggestion engine to provide personalized suggestions, predictions and similarity scores to our users.

You DON'T! - You can optionally add your name so your friends can search for you, but other than that we never show your name to users.

Knowing where you are from helps us generate personalized suggestions for you.

We never show your email address to anyone! Only your nickname is every shown to other users on the website.

You can rate a location by simply clicking the stars throughout the site without having to enter a full review. The more places you rate the better our suggestions will be. If the rating icons are yellow that means you have already rated the location. If you'd like to leave a more detailed review you can do so by clicking Add Comments on the actual location page.

You can use the Make a Suggestion link to enter the information about a new suggestion.

Sure, just click the rating icons and your rating will be readjusted.

Yes there is. Once you are logged in, you can click the Rate Places link and you will get a list of places to rate, you can quickly click the rating for each place. Please note that the list of places that show up will be based on your favorite neighborhoods.

When you are logged in you can click the View Suggestions link from the quick links section of your home page. Also when searching for places you can sort by Predicated Score and this will sort the results based on the suggestions generated for you.

Our most recent tests shows our prediction to have an accuracy of 85%. We expect to improve on these numbers as we tweak our formula and have more ratings to work with.

By rating and commenting on as many places as you can and by connecting with members you can improve the accuracy of the suggestions generated for you!

We use a proprietary collaborative filtering algorithm to predict your score based on the places you've rated in the past and the ratings of others who rated the same places as you. The more places you rate the accurate our prediction will be.

Our suggestion algorithm requires you to rate places that other users have rated. Also due to the complexity of our algorithm we only generate new suggestions once a day. We suggest you rate a few more places and check back tomorrow.

By clicking not interested you can remove a place from your suggestion list so that we can suggest a new place.

Just type in the type of place you are looking for or even the name of the place and the location at the top of the site. You can also click on the Get Suggestions link to get to the search page.

The order by allows you to determine the way in which the results are sorted. You are able to sort by Average Rating, Distance, # of Ratings and # of comments. By registering and searching while logged in you can even sort by Predicted Score (we generate a score for you), # of Friend Ratings and # of Friend Comments.

Well we don't say we're better, just different. Instead of expecting you to look through all the reviews and results we use our suggestion and correlation algorithms to predict how well you like places and thus can make personalized suggestions for you.

You can zoom in on the map and locate the exact location you are looking for a place and click the "Refresh Search In Map Area Only".

Tagging allows you to add keywords to describe places. If someone has already tagged a place you are able to increase the popularity of that tag by clicking up arrow next to a tag name.

By adding tags it allows for easier searches for places. The more tags that are added to places the easier it is to find related suggestions

Yes. You are able to search by tags in the Search For. Also when searching you will notice on the left panel a list of related tags and top tags in a given area (you can click on any tag name to search).

Your friend network is a friend of a friend based network that includes your direct friends, their friends, and so on (up to 6 levels deep). You can use your friend network to see which places your friends like and see how similar your tastes are with theirs.

To add friends you can invite new friends by clicking on the Invite Friends link in the Quick Links section of your home page. You can also add friends by viewing a users home page and click the "Send Friend Request" link.

No. We can generate suggestions for you even without you having a large friend network. By create a friend network though it does enable us to help you find places that your friends have rated.

The rewards program gives you points every time you link with a new friend, invite a friend, add a new place, comment on a place and even just rate a place.

No. We have joined the MyPerkPlace rewards program to give back to our users. The rewards are real and you can earn points from other MyPerkPlace member sites as well.

You are able to redeem your points for gift certificates to many different retail stores and online sites.

We think its important to reward the users who help make our site great. Our suggestion algorithm requires lots of ratings so we want to reward those who help us grow our sie.

Our wish list feature allows you to basically bookmark a business you come across on theSUGGESTR.com and want to remember. You can then see the list of places on your wish list by clicking the wish list link from your home page.

Once your logged in you just need to click the heart icon next to the rating stars.
